Until recently, tourist facilities in Cambodia's eastern provinces were very limited, but that's beginning to change as many see the ecotourism opportunities in this part of the country.
Rolling hills in Mondulkiri, beautiful waterfalls in Ratanakiri, hill tribes in both provinces, freshwater dolphins near Kratie and rough wilderness in the far north. Eastern Cambodia has it all.
In the far north east of Cambodia lies the province of Ratanakiri. Here you can find stunning scenery, waterfalls, jungle and not much explored national parks.
Very close to the provincial capital Ban Lung is the beautiful and deep volcanic lake of Yak Laom.

Kratie is a pleasant enough small town on the banks of the Mekong River.
Its biggest attraction lies roughly 10 kilometers north of town where you can spot freshwater, or Irrawaddy dolphins. But please take care, as these dolphins are an endangered species.
